The house is organized into two primary zones: living spaces framed in wood, and sleeping spaces cast in concrete. Custom wood panels are used throughout the interior for built-in furniture and the main stair, paired with an integrated lighting strategy to support a quiet, natural atmosphere. The interior was reconfigured to create an open kitchen, an accessible bathroom, an expanded laundry area, widened doorways, and a large operable skylight. Prior to starting the studio, Ryan worked under Pritzker Prize-winning architect Wang Shu at Amateur Architecture Studio in Hangzhou, China from 2013 to 2019.Alongside practice, Ryan is currently a faculty member at RISD Architecture (profile). His primary areas of research include architectural regionalism, natural building materials, and building energy performance. &nbsp;Ryan is a registered architect and member of the AIA.
