RMA was founded by Ryan McCaffrey and is based in Boston, MA. Prior to starting the studio, Ryan worked under Pritzker Prize-winning architect Wang Shu at Amateur Architecture Studio in Hangzhou, China from 2013 to 2019.
Alongside practice, Ryan is currently a faculty member at RISD Architecture (profile). His primary areas of research include architectural regionalism, natural building materials, and building energy performance.
Ryan is a registered architect and member of the AIA. He studied architecture at China Academy of Art (M.Arch II), Rhode Island School of Design (B.Arch), and McGill University.
